Missionary Ridge with the Adaptive Sports Association

On Saturday, October 4th, the Creeper Jeepers Gang partnered with the Adaptive Sports Association for a fun run up Missionary Ridge. We met at PJ’s Market north of Durango to assign participants to vehicles and for any last minute food and snacks. The weather the previous night produced significant rain and we weren’t sure what the weather would be on the ride up the mountain.

The original plan was to go to Henderson Lake, but Brian and Carl scouted the route the day before and suggested we take Burnt Timber Rd. to the Lime Mesa Trailhead. He said there wasn’t much parking available for a large group at the lake and it would be muddy with the rain.

Burnt Timber offered fabulous views of Lemon Reservoir on one side and views of Haviland and Electra Lakes on the other side. The aspen trees were at peak for much of the drive. We had box lunches from Subway for everyone who participated and everyone got a duck, thanks to Susan and Brian. The weather turned out to be great, though a little brisk at our lunch stop. In fact, we even had a few snowflakes fall on us.

Many thanks to those who have made this one of the most-looked-forward-to events of the season!
